William Tärneberg serves as an associate senior lecturer at Lund University within the Department of Electrical and Information Technology. He is affiliated with the Secure and Networked Systems group and holds membership in ELLIIT: the Linköping-Lund initiative on IT and mobile communication, as well as the LTH Profile Area in AI and Digitalization and the LU Profile Area in Natural and Artificial Cognition. Tärneberg’s research centers on machine learning, reinforcement learning, advanced wireless systems, 6G technology, cloud and edge computing, and ray-tracing simulation. He emphasizes frugal systems that achieve significant outcomes with minimal resources, integrating interdisciplinary approaches across networking, system performance optimization, and trade-off analysis in constrained environments.
Tärneberg completed his doctoral studies at Lund University, serving as a PhD student in the Faculty of Electrical and Information Technology from September 2013 to March 2019. In his current role, he contributes to major initiatives including the 6G-FOX project, Distributed Robot Learning, and Next Generation Communication and Computational Infrastructures and Applications (NextG2Com). His work also supports projects on vehicular communication and intelligent management of next-generation mobile networks. Tärneberg has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics such as emulating industrial 5G-edge networks, coverage probability in full-duplex networks, and the impact of positioning uncertainty on autonomous intersection management systems.
