Great Professor!
Professor Wojciech Chrzanowski, MSc, PhD, DSc, is Professor of Nanomedicine in the Sydney Pharmacy School, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, where he also heads Pharmaceutical Sciences. An internationally recognized leader, his research focuses on nanomedicine, extracellular vesicles (EVs), nanosafety, biomanufacturing, and bioprocessing. Since joining the University of Sydney in 2010, he has built a prominent program advancing nanotechnology for biomedical applications, including EV-based drug delivery, therapeutic ultrasound combined with nano-enhanced systems for cancer treatment, and innovative models like human lungs in a dish for preclinical drug testing. Affiliated with the Sydney Nano Institute, his work emphasizes safe-by-design nanotechnology and clinical translation of EVs for healthier and sustainable futures.
Chrzanowski has authored over 215 peer-reviewed publications, garnering more than 10,500 citations on Google Scholar. Notable contributions include 'Rethinking Extracellular Vesicle Signaling' (2026), 'The regulatory landscape for extracellular vesicle therapies: Australian context and future directions' (2026), 'Nano-Enhanced Drug Delivery and Therapeutic Ultrasound for Cancer Treatment' (2019), and 'The protein corona determines the cytotoxicity of nanodiamonds' (2022), which have advanced understanding of nanomaterial interactions and EV signaling. His impact is underscored by 16 national and international awards and honors, such as the Royal Society of Chemistry Horizon Prize (2019) for a Nanoscale paper on EVs, the NanoPitch Discovery 2025 Best Pitch Award ($100,000), two Best Supervisor awards for postgraduate mentorship, and a DKK 2,981,787 research grant from the LEO Foundation. Actively involved in teaching Nanomedicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Research Methods, he supervises PhD students and delivers public lectures at conferences like the International NanoMedicine Conference. His leadership extends to professional service in biomanufacturing and nanosafety initiatives.
