Yiye Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Barowsky School of Business at Dominican University of California, where she holds a full-time faculty position. She also serves as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program. Zhang earned her PhD in Accounting from the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2021, following her MS in Accounting and BS in Accounting, both from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to joining Dominican University of California, she was a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she contributed to student research achievements as a coauthor on a conference presentation during the 2017-2018 academic year. At Dominican, her office is located in Bertrand Room 25D, and she maintains office hours for students, including Wednesdays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM or by appointment.
In her teaching role, Zhang delivers courses such as Introduction to Accounting for first-year students and Auditing (BUS 4034) for advanced learners, held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:20 PM to 4:00 PM in Guzman Room 110 during Fall 2023. Her instruction has had a notable impact on students; for instance, business major Leo Pan identified her introductory accounting course as his pivotal 'aha moment,' inspiring him to pursue a sequence of accounting courses leading to internships and a dream job at PwC. Zhang's doctoral dissertation, titled 'CEOs’ Capital Gains Tax Burden and Earnings Quality,' was completed in partial fulfillment of her PhD requirements at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She co-authored the peer-reviewed article 'Earnings management risk and audit pricing: Evidence from big bath accounting' with Heeick Choi and Khondkar Karim, published in the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting in 2024. Additionally, Zhang has provided expert insights to the media, commenting on economic indicators like small luxury splurges as signals of national economic health in a 2024 Press Democrat article.
