I took HIUS 221, and at first, the class seemed intimidating, but each lecture was well organized, followed the syllabus, and provided detailed information regarding important parts of American History before 1877. Dr. Bauer only gave us two exams: a midterm and a final, both of which she provided a study guide for. While some may find her method unconventional due to the exams only having five questions that cover term id's and primary source id's discussed in lectures, while the study guides have roughly 60 terms/primary sources that must be studied, her method ensures that every student is learning all of the course material, which is her job! If you are looking for a course to take where you don't have to apply yourself, then her course is not for you...or rather, no course is for you. Best of luck :)
