Position Overview
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Department of Chemistry is seeking 1 or 2 candidates for temporary adjunct positions starting in Spring 2026. Candidates should possess a master’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates should be able to successfully teach undergraduate level Analytical and/or General Chemistry lecture and lab courses in an in-person mode.

- Masters degree or higher in Chemistry, Physics or a related field.
- One year or more of successful teaching experience.

Normal Work Schedule
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Department Required Skills
- The ability to teach three (3) lecture hours per week in person and (1) lab hour.
- Must be able to use and work from a course syllabus and maintain grades and record keeping using a Learning Management System (Canvas).
- Should be proficient in technologies and teaching with various tools such as projectors, laser pointers, lab equipment, and presentation software.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Three years or more of successful teaching analytical and/or general chemistry courses at the college level.
- Effective classroom management, correspondence with students, faculty, staff and administration.
- A dedication to providing a positive high-quality learning environment is essential.
- Experience using Banner and Canvas systems.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Describe the specific job duties related to this competency
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Chemistry offered at the college in:
- Instrumental Analysis
- General Chemistry
- General Chemistry for Health Sciences
The department uses chemical instrumentation and computers in teaching environments. Departmental Instrumentation may include GC, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC and AA. Laptop computers and digital data acquisition systems are also available for laboratory instructional use.

Describe the specific job duties related to this competency
The Adjunct Faculty will follow a syllabus and will prepare assignments, tests and quizzes as needed. Will also keep records of student’s grades, attendance and submit a final grade.
