Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Wofford College, a private liberal arts institution in Spartanburg, South Carolina, invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in Chemistry, beginning in August 2026.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in general chemistry, including both lecture and laboratory sections, as well as the department’s Science in Context course, and potentially environmental chemistry if this is an area of the candidate's expertise. We seek candidates who have demonstrated enthusiasm for working closely with undergraduate students in a supportive, collaborative learning environment.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry, or a closely related field, is required. Candidates who are ABD by the August 2026 start date are encouraged to apply. This one-year, non-tenure-track position is a replacement hire for faculty on sabbatical. This is an opportunity for faculty to gain teaching experience while receiving supportive mentorship from the Wofford Chemistry faculty and the College.
For consideration, please apply via the Wofford Careers Page and include the following application materials:
- Cover letter
- Curriculum vitae
- Academic transcripts (unofficial)
- A statement of teaching philosophy that addresses their approach to engaging undergraduates in both classroom and laboratory settings
- Contact information for three references
Review of applications will begin on November 21 and continue until the position is filled.
Questions regarding the position may be directed to Caleb Arrington at ArringtonCA@Wofford.edu.
