Department Information
The Department of Mathematics offers B.S. degrees in Pure and in Applied Mathematics, in Teaching Mathematics, and in Statistical Data Science. It is a student-focused department that prides itself on discussion-based learning, on its commitment to student learning and undergraduate research. We have generous computer lab facilities for our students, as well as a new Artificial Intelligence Learning Hub.
Position Description:
The Department of Mathematics at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers.
Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.
Minimum Qualifications:
- It is expected that the successful applicant holds a master's degree in mathematics or statistics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- It is preferred if the applicant has college teaching experience
Rank and Salary:
Lecturer and salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position's appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time assignments.
