The Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging, Body Imaging Division at the University of Virginia, seeks five candidates for tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructor/Fellow positions in Abdominal Imaging for a July 1, 2027 start date. This one-year post-graduate fellowship program provides extensive training in all aspects of abdominal imaging with a focus on image-guided procedures (ultrasound and CT) and abdominopelvic MRI. As a quaternary referral center, we perform MRI for a broad range of diseases including prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, gynecological cancers, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma; and a variety of hepatobiliary diseases including cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis, and MR elastography.
Clinical instructors will learn to perform a variety of procedures, including solid organ and lung biopsies, abscess drainages, thoracenteses and paracenteses, thyroid nodule biopsies and fluoroscopically-guided GI tract interventions. This unique training opportunity is held in one of the premier academic communities in the country with a robust data infrastructure to engage in clinical research if desired. The UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging provides final reads to our ED patients on a 24-7 basis with overnight coverage being provided by our fellows who elect to participate in the program. Overnight work can be performed from home, and includes subspecialty attending back-up as needed. This optional program bolsters income in a comfortable environment, while promoting the maintenance and further development of general radiology skills in preparation for boards and practice.

Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and successfully completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at an ACGME accredited institution or successfully completed a diagnostic radiology residency accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
