The shift available is Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

This position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a full range of support services to the chairperson (and faculty) in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) and to the Dean for the College of Health Sciences.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving and organizational skills; can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment; values teamwork and collaboration; shows attention to detail; support organization change and can build and maintain relationships with campus partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and central resource for the Department by answering telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, and distributing messages and departmental mail.
- Provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the Department Chair, regular faculty, and temporary faculty to ensure efficient daily office operations.
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students by providing general information and direction and serving as a liaison between students and faculty.
- Work independently to prioritize tasks and manage workflow, with input from the Chair as needed.
- Coordinate room bookings and submit work orders for facilities-related needs, including moving and custodial requests.
- Arrange travel and logistical support for departmental activities, including faculty searches and special events.
- Assist in planning and coordinating departmental events, including the annual Department retreat.
- Utilize institutional and departmental software systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, SAP, 25Live) to support administrative operations.
- Maintain and update programmatic databases related to advising, assessment, and accreditation activities in collaboration with faculty.
- Assist the Chair in preparing and entering the master schedule for undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Submit and track electronic requisitions (e-reqs) and assist with departmental budget tracking and reporting.
- Maintain student records, manage enrollment-related documentation, and update faculty advising lists as directed.
- Assist the Chair and faculty with the preparation of faculty evaluations and related documentation.
- Maintain departmental files and records, including personnel documents, assessment plans, accreditation materials, and official correspondence, and monitor inventory of office supplies and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth title)
- OR
- Graduation from high school
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Knowledge of standard vocabulary and usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to use an alphanumeric keyboard.
- Ability to proofread information for conformance with prescribed standards.
- Ability to sort and file information.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to follow oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand written materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer Service Experience
- Clerical or receptionist experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite to manage calendars, create and maintain reports, and prepare presentations
- Experience working in Higher Education setting
