Position Summary

The Department of Educational Foundation and Policy Studies invites applicants for a Full-time, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Educational Assessment position. The position begins in August 2026.

The Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies, part of College of Education and Social Work, is dedicated to fostering the development of educators with the requisite critical consciousness and pedagogical skills to act as public intellectuals; citizen-teachers capable of creating pedagogical spaces and practices that are relevant, impactful, and liberating for their students. The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Educational Assessment program. The typical workload involves teaching four courses per semester. Courses are typically offered face-to-face as well as online, hybrid, hyflex, and/or distance education modalities. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate strong attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department's students. Their experience, substantive specialization, and pedagogical training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and vision. The faculty will collaborate with other departmental and college faculty & staff to ensure student success. The incumbent will complete a distance education training program within the first two years of hire.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in Educational Assessment program via department approved modalities. Additional courses may be assigned based on area of specialization depending on department needs
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, publications, and grants. This is necessary for tenure and promotion.
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Educational Assessment or Measurement or a closely related discipline. ABD may be considered - must be completed by December 2026
  • A record of research and scholarship
  • A record of K-12 teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience teaching at the K-12 level; and/or
  • Experience teaching at college level; and/or
  • Demonstrated experience in Critical Pedagogy, Critical Quantitative Methods, Qualitative Research methods, and/or Transformative Education
