Job Description
This full-time faculty position offers the opportunity to teach Physical Therapist Assistant courses at Laurel Ridge Community College. Faculty members play a vital role in creating a positive, caring, and dynamic learning environment that fosters student success, values diversity, promotes community engagement, and reflects Laurel Ridge Community College's mission and values. The successful candidate will support the goals of the College, School of Health Professions, and the Physical Therapist Assistant program while adhering to all Virginia Community College System (VCCS) policies and procedures.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position is $54,387 to $117,180, per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is a 9 month faculty role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy or physical therapist assistant program
- Licensed or eligible for unencumbered PT license or PTA license in the state of Virginia
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in a related field, OR associates degree with at least three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice
- Broad experience with the delivery of physical therapy across the continuum of care, that may include orthopedics, neurorehabilitation, and acute/sub-acute care.
- Strong communication, writing, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
- Comfortable working independently at a satellite site and coordinating work with colleagues and students remotely, utilizing distance learning and technology as needed.
- Available for a work schedule that may include days, evenings and/or weekends, based on institutional and student needs.
- Ability to facilitate or conduct distanced learning, web delivery, instructional laboratory and clinical assignments.
Additional Considerations
- Minimum of two years of clinical practice as an SCCE and/or CI or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant education program
- Knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles
- Master's or terminal degree in a related field
- Active in professional activities at the local, state, and/or national levels
- Prior experience with coordination of clinical and laboratory schedules and activities
- APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor
