Academic Adviser
Provide academic advising to current and prospective students who are pursuing or plan to pursue a degree program in the School of Health Sciences. Maintenance of student records, coordination, preparation and maintenance of transfer credit evaluations, process athletics' departmental forms, maintenance of the change of major request, attend admissions and orientation programs as well as group information sessions. Assist in the design, development, and implantation of student recruitment, admission, retention, and academic advising activities including the use of technological solutions. Demonstrated skill in working with students to achieve educational goals. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum one-year experience in academic counseling or advising.
- Strong computer and database skills.
- Demonstrated skill in working with students to achieve educational goals, retention, and student success.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues in development of academic advising protocol and programs to retain students and move them through their academic major.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines, work independently, and take initiative when appropriate.
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for special events.
- Ability to travel for the purpose of programming, recruiting and advising students.
- Strong technical and database skills with a willingness to engage in training and implementation of new advising technology.
Desired Qualifications:
