Criteria
CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole
criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review
the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum
qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be
interviewed. Other information and observations made during the
interview process may be considered in the selection process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Delivers comprehensive advisement support services to an
assigned group of students through degree completion
- Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic
support services
- Counsels students in academic difficulty, including but not
limited to; students on academic warning, academic restriction, and
academically dismissed by the College, and those returning after
being academically dismissed
- Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as
needed to support student success
- Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned
student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity
programs
- Provides advising for prospective, new, and current students in
person, virtually, or via telephone/email, including registration,
individual advising sessions, classroom visits, and group
sessions
- Provide personalized coaching/advising to students through
in-person and digital platforms (i.e. email, phone, and virtual 1:1
meetings) to include degree planning, course selection, and
addressing academic concerns.
- Supports annual recruitment of new students into the
program
- Organizes periodic special events and programs for students,
faculty and staff
- May conduct or support delivery of student seminars on issues
of importance to students
- Develops active, collaborative, effective working relationships
and programs with PGCPS, community, parents, and college personnel
who are critical to student success.
- Guide students in their awareness of careers based on major,
career paths, academic interests, skills, and goals for their
professional development.
- Maintains accurate and secure student records.
- Uses analytical and evidence-based decision-making to develop
and interpret reports, analyze trends, and translate data from
multiple sources into actionable outreach strategies that support
student persistence, progression, and timely degree
completion.
- Review academic success checkpoints, share information
regarding students, and facilitate evidence-based
interventions.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus departments to
coordinate student support efforts and ensure comprehensive
advising.
- Connect students to campus resources, such as student
disability services, and mental health services.
- Develops and facilitates workshops or group advising sessions
on academic planning, transfer preparation, or career
readiness.
- Supports new student onboarding, orientation, and registration
activities.
- Promotes an inclusive and supportive advising environment,
demonstrating cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse
student needs
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of

skills
- Ability to enter, monitor and interpret student data
accurately
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data.

- Ability to prioritize work requirements and demonstrate
independent decision-making.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills as applied to
interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the public

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively
communicate and interact with other employees and the public
through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally
defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel
objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and
operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not
limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax
machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping,
and repetitive motions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written
standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present
acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a
U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
- A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer
of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal
information will be required if selected for an interview.
