Academic and Career Success Coordinator (Student Programming Specialist)
Job Summary
The Academic and Career Success Coordinator serves as the Primary Operational Lead for a centralized, technology-enhanced support ecosystem in Whitewater Hall. This role manages the daily operations of an integrated academic and career support center, supervises a peer staff team, and collaborates with faculty to embed success resources and career readiness tools directly into the student experience.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and implements student programming to enhance academic engagement and career readiness for both in-person and online students.
- Administers the center's AI vendor ecosystem (e.g., Quinncia, resume review tools, and academic coaching platforms), managing subscriptions and student access.
- Manages the Whitewater Hall facility, coordinating collaborative drop-in spaces and private rooms for focused career preparation and simulations.
- Facilitates modern job market preparation by linking students with AI-driven services for resume reviews and mock interview feedback.
- Oversees the support framework for internships, providing students with resources to identify and secure placements aligned with their professional goals.
- Ensures career programming reflects current industry standards and regional workforce needs.
- Recruits, hires, and supervises a team of student peer staff, managing schedules, payroll, and performance evaluations.
- Designs and delivers training for student staff on AI literacy, Socratic tutoring, and career coaching.
- Coordinates the "Embedded Tutor" program, placing student staff in high-DFW courses to provide real-time classroom support.
- Partners with deans and faculty to identify high-attrition courses and implement targeted support strategies.
- Collaborates with instructors to embed academic and career modules directly into course Canvas sites for just-in-time access.
- Consults with faculty on the effective and ethical integration of AI tools within their specific pedagogical goals.
- Leads marketing and outreach efforts to maximize service visibility for face-to-face and online student populations.
- Executes an assessment plan to monitor platform engagement and evaluate the impact of center interventions on student persistence and job placement.
- Prepares data-driven reports for leadership regarding fiscal sustainability and student outcomes.
General Responsibilities
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Projects programming outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
- Interfaces directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives.
- Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs.
- Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
- Serves on committees and performs student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
- Plans and coordinates communications for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
- May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
