Academic Functional Neurosurgeon (NTT)
Job Description
The University of Missouri Department of Neurosurgery is currently recruiting a neurosurgeon specializing in Functional Neurosurgery. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. This position will have a focus in deep brain stimulation for patients with movement disorders, as well as those patients with epilepsy and facial pain. This position will also provide general neurosurgery coverage.
Faculty will participate in general and pediatric neurosurgery on-call coverage; contribute to resident selection and evaluation; participate in resident and medical education through supervision in the clinical setting and operating room, as well as through academic curriculum development; and involvement in clinically relevant research and scholarship.
Partner with one other Functional Neurosurgeon and collaborate with neurology, neuropsychology, psychiatry, and rehabilitation teams in a multidisciplinary care model
This position supports a high-volume subspecialty practice focused on movement disorders surgery, epilepsy surgery, and other functional procedures at a level four epilepsy center
Looking for someone to build a Psychiatric surgery program and develop our program for treating cancer pain, including cordotomy, myelotomy procedures
Evaluate and manage surgical patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia, chronic pain syndromes, and other functional disorders
The candidate will also participate in resident and fellow instruction in both operating room and bedside settings, with responsibilities in teaching, research, and academic activities
Preference given to those with research program, particularly in neural engineering.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Board-certified/Board-eligible in Neurosurgery
License to practice medicine in the Missouri prior to start date
Candidates will be evaluated on: experience in Functional Neurosurgery
