Academic Physician - Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist: Pediatric Cancer Survivorship Program PED234
The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology/Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation seeks a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointee is expected to develop or enhance a clinical and/or translational research program focused on the pediatric cancer survivor population. Specific areas of focus may include but are not limited to exploring the determinants of care outcomes, consortia lead clinical trials, and prevention and management of long-term toxicities of chemoradiotherapy. Significant clinical research resources are available. Clinical locations of care and responsibilities may evolve based on the patient needs and the direction of the Section. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity.
Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. The appointee will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine (UCM), the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The Section of Hematology/Oncology collaborates with the Department of Surgery, the Department of Radiation Oncology, and the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center and affiliated sites, including Advocate Children’s Hospital and NorthShore University Health System. The group is responsible for the diagnosis and management of children in the largest pediatrics program in the state of Illinois, the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA).
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Oncology, and 4) have experience in clinical or translational pediatric solid tumor research.
We especially welcome applicants with strong collaborative skills who specialize in the treatment of children, adolescents and young adults with hematologic malignancies, and the care of children who are pediatric cancer survivors.
