Academic Stroke and Brain Injury PM and R Clinician Scientist
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, in partnership with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, invites applications for a Contingent Term appointment for a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist at the Assistant Professor level.
The successful candidate will join the Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Calgary. The position will be based at the Foothills Medical Center.
The successful academic PM&R specialist will be expected to lead their own research program in stroke and brain injury, while also collaborating with other researchers in Calgary, nationally and abroad. They will provide education to medical students, residents and graduate students around stroke and brain injury, rehabilitation and research methods. Clinically the candidate will participate in clinical care of stroke and brain injury patients, including inpatient consultative work, outpatient clinics and on call.
Protected time for academic activity will be negotiated depending on the candidate’s track record and academic plan. The successful candidate will be supported with start-up funding commensurate with their expertise, prior accomplishments and proposed academic plan. The candidate will also be expected to participate in teaching residents, clinical and research fellows, medical students, and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to start their position around October 1, 2026 (negotiable).
