Academic Technologist - Clark University
Basic Function:
The Academic Technologist collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to integrate technology into teaching, learning, and campus initiatives in sustainable, engaging, and accessible ways, furthering the Clark Inspired goals. Working within the Academic Technology team, this role promotes and supports the effective use of technologies through training, resources, and innovative solutions. The position also assists in discovering, implementing, and evaluating tools that support the student experience across the campus, particularly in the classroom. This role reports to the Manager of Online and Instructional Technology within the Information Technology Services department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Faculty & Staff Support: Consult with faculty and other stakeholders to identify and implement technology-enhanced teaching and learning solutions that align with best practices in instructional design and with the Clark Inspired goals.
- Tool Administration & Support: Serve as an administrator for core teaching and learning applications (e.g., LMS, ePortfolio, video content repositories, survey tools).
- Training & Resources: Develop and deliver proactive training and support programs, self-help materials, tutorials, workshops (both virtual and in-person), and individual consultations.
- Platform Management: Support, promote, and assess the use of campus applications such as Canvas, Digication, Kaltura, Qualtrics, LinkedIn Learning, and others.
- Student Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise student workers to provide student-led support on campus initiatives such as the Clark Experience ePortfolio and Academic and Research excellence.
- Innovation & Outreach: Explore emerging technologies and share best practices to enhance teaching and learning. Collaborate across departments to align with institutional goals.
- Community Engagement: Contribute to a campus culture that values diversity, integrity, and respect, fostering an inclusive environment.
- Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree in education, instructional technology, instructional design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum three years of experience supporting technology-enhanced teaching and learning; higher education experience preferred.
- Expertise in designing and supporting accessible, pedagogically sound learning experiences across multiple modalities.
- Experience administering and supporting teaching tools, including LMS (Canvas preferred), video production (Kaltura preferred), learning tools (ePortfolios, survey tools, etc.), and a unified communication and collaboration platform (Microsoft Teams preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and fluency in both Windows and macOS.
- Strong technical skills with the ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex technical concepts clearly and design effective faculty development programs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
- Strong problem-solving, project management, and change management skills.
- Collaborative team player with excellent consulting and customer service skills.
- Commitment to diversity and ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.
Additional Information:
Expected Hiring Range: $61,700 to $68,150

The compensation for this position will be determined based on factors that include available budget, internal equity, and the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related credentials. This range represents Clark University's good-faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting consistent with Clark's compensation philosophy and internal alignment.
