Academy - Long-Term and On-Call Substitute Teacher, Middle School
Position Overview
Lipscomb Academy is a Christ-centered, faith-based educational institution seeking a committed and flexible Substitute Teacher to support both long-term teacher leaves and short-term daily absences across a range of grade levels and subject areas. This role is essential in ensuring consistency in academic instruction and spiritual development when regular classroom teachers are unavailable.
The ideal candidate will not only be an effective educator but also a role model who upholds and supports the school's Christian mission and values. This position requires someone who can adapt to various teaching environments, embrace faith-based instruction, and foster a positive, spiritually enriching classroom culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in accordance with lesson plans and curriculum aligned with both academic and Christian faith-based standards.
- Integrate Biblical principles and Christian worldview into the classroom environment where appropriate.
- Encourage spiritual growth and model Christian character through words and actions.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and spiritually nurturing classroom atmosphere.
- Support students in prayer, devotionals, or faith-based activities as part of the school's routine.
- Collaborate with school leadership and fellow teachers to ensure a seamless transition during long-term assignments.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility and readiness to accept daily or extended substitute assignments as needed.
- Comply with school policies and maintain professional conduct at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (required).
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith and values; alignment with the mission and statement of faith of Lipscomb Academy.
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred, especially in a Christian school environment.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and administration.
- Willingness to participate in classroom prayer or devotionals when appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active membership in a Christian church or ministry.
- Experience teaching in a private or faith-based school setting.
- Knowledge of and comfort with incorporating Scripture and Biblical principles into instruction.
Work Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, following the academic calendar. Must be available to accept both scheduled and last-minute substitute teaching assignments throughout the year.
