SUNY Broome Community College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track Accessibility Specialist in the Accessibility Resources Office.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Learning and Student Success, the Accessibility Specialist supports the College's educational mission by ensuring the provision of necessary accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. In addition, this position coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Testing Center.
The successful candidate will:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational or School Psychology, Communication Disorders, Rehabilitative Counseling, or related field required.
- Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting required.
- Training and experience preferred in assessing and diagnosing specific learning disabilities using appropriate diagnostic instruments, e.g., the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scales (WAIS-IV), and the Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational batteries (WJ-IV).
- Knowledge and understanding of Section 504 and/or the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and 2008 (ADAAA).
- Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as it relates to post-secondary education.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship from the employer.
The minimum annual salary for this position is $67,353. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
