Job Description
The Accommodations and Access Manager will play a key role within the Office of Accessibility and ADA and the University of Missouri as a whole, helping ensure that the University meets ADA requirements and fosters an equitable, accessible workplace for employees with disabilities.
Key Focus (approximately 70%) of the role:
- Managing employee accommodations: Facilitates the ADA accommodations process for university faculty and staff, along with the Accommodations Specialist, the Senior Manager, and Director. This entails working with the employee on an individualized, case-by-case basis to explore various accommodation options that may be effective, interpreting medical documentation, working collaboratively with the supervisor to determine what accommodations are reasonable given the nature of the job role, and assisting with documenting and implementing accommodations. Serves as a key advisor for supervisors in the ADA process.
- Case management: Serves as case manager for a varied caseload of accommodations, ensuring that the ADA accommodations process for employees is collaborative, timely, and thoroughly documented.
- ADA processes: Identifies trends and recommends process improvements to improve ADA compliance.
- Office operations: Assists with managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Accessibility and ADA, including data reporting, managing logistics, recordkeeping, project task execution, and other process monitoring.
Secondary Focus (approximately 30%) of the role:
- Planning for accessibility: Works with colleagues and departments across campus to plan for accessibility and accommodations in university events and programs and provides advice when questions or accommodations requests arise.
- Outreach and Communication: Assists with engagement and outreach across campus to develop relationships, explain information about ADA, and help foster a better understanding of accommodations, accessibility, and disability in general.
- Responding to barriers: Supports the Senior Manager of Accessibility and ADA, when needed, with evaluating and responding to accessibility barrier reports from the campus community and pursuing projects to improve access.
