Job Summary
The incumbent provides fiscal support on grants, contracts and cooperative agreements for the Office of Grants and Contracts. He/she works with and supports the development, implementation and provision of ongoing financial oversight to grants management operations, ensuring appropriate use and accurate reporting of financial transactions.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of OMB accounting principles
- Knowledge of grants administration principles
- Proficient in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Detail oriented management of multiple projects, and priority setting
- Good communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal
- Ability to read, analyze, understand and carry out instructions, written and oral
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
Essential Job Functions
- Assists Principal Investigators in fiscal post-award administration
- Serves as point of contact with agencies for fiscal matters
- Ensures consistent application of federal policies related to fiscal matters
- Establishes accounts for programs after fiscal review of award documentation
- Informs Principal Investigators of program expenditures and encumbrances
- Processes expenditures and submits fiscal reports
- Submits required financial reports to funding agencies
- Ensures all documented cost-sharing is reported to the sponsor(s)
- Calculates and recovers legitimate indirect costs
- Closes out accounts
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field
- Two (2) years’ accounting experience
