Accounting, Assistant/Associate Professor

Alabama State University, College of Business, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting. The Department of Accounting and Finance supports the mission of the College by advancing excellence in teaching, research, and service. This position contributes to strategic academic leadership and supports departmental initiatives in curriculum development, faculty engagement, and continuous improvement efforts aligned with MCSB accreditation standards.

Faculty members are expected to teach within their discipline, deliver high-quality instruction across modalities, and maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status through sustained intellectual contributions, recruit and advise students.

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Accounting and ensure the achievement of established learning outcomes.
• Utilize innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies that foster student learning and engagement.
• Develop course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments in accordance with departmental, college, and MCSB standards.
• Assess student learning and apply continuous improvement strategies to enhance course effectiveness.
• Maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status by engaging in ongoing research, scholarly publication, and participation in academic conferences.
• Stay current with disciplinary developments, pedagogical best practices, and emerging trends in accounting education.
• Advise students on academic planning, degree requirements, and professional goals.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
• Participate in shared governance through committee service and other assigned responsibilities.
• Supervise work-study or student assistants as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution, 5 years of full-time collegiate teaching experience in accounting and /or Finance, 3 years of academic administrative experience in a higher-education environment, demonstrated knowledge of proposal writing and grant administration, current academic rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in an Accounting or Finance department, demonstrated ability to maintain Scholarly Academic (SA) status under AACSB guidelines through sustained intellectual contributions required.
