Scope of Job:
To perform a variety of technical and clerical accounting duties involving the accounting, budgeting, recording and reporting of financial transactions and provide dependable accounting assistance for the performance of many varied accounting office tasks requiring limited independent judgment. Responsible for assisting in accounting tasks in pre-auditing accounting documents, making debit and credit postings to individual accounts.
Description of Duties:
- Prepares, researches and processes payment vouchers, journal vouchers, cash receipts vouchers, and other covering documents affecting transfer or payment of funds.
Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given:
May supervise assigned staff.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
Graduation from a Business/Vocational school with emphasis in accounting, or, college coursework in the field of accounting or business.
Licenses/Certifications:
None.
Required Experience:
- One (1) years experience in accounting or bookkeeping work or
- Associate's Degree in a related field or 60 hours of College Credit including 12 hours of accounting related class work and no experience.
Preferred Experience:
The above required experience acquired in the university environment. Pertinent Federal, State, and University laws, codes and regulations related to financial aid and accounting work.
Equipment:
Proficiency required in the use of ten key calculator, PCs and related spreadsheet, word processing, and database software, and other standard office equipment.
Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment. May work in departments where special hazards exist. May spend long periods standing or sitting. May be required to perform light lifting (10 lbs.) to move files, equipment, paper, etc. Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach to retrieve files.
Other:
Exacting accuracy required in all aspects of accounting tasks.
