About the Project
A fully funded three years PhD position under a Leverhulme-funded project on Active Self-Propelled Helices is available. The project will develop theoretical and computational models for electrically driven helical microswimmers in three-dimensional fluids, with particular focus on propulsion, interactions, and collective behaviour. modelling. The PhD student will be based in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Strathclyde.
The student will work on analytical and computational approaches to model propulsion and interactions of helical particles in viscous flows. The project combines mathematical modelling, asymptotic analysis, partial differential equations, and high-fidelity numerical simulation.
