Active Vision: The fundamental role for eye movements in our experinece of visually stable world
Vision is necessarily limited by the inhomogeneity of visual system, with fine detail being restricted to the central point of regard. To gather more detail about the visual world we move our eyes. The successful interaction between eye movement control (how we decide when and where to move our eyes), and visual processing is imperative for us to experience a visually stable world. This PhD project will involve an empirical body of work that examines how this interaction takes place, the role of individual differences, and how this breaks down over the lifespan.
