ADA & Compliance Administrator - (250000VX)

The ADA & Compliance Administrator serves as administrator and coordinator for the University’s program of reasonable employment accommodations for individuals with disabilities qualifying under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (the “ADA”) and related University System/University policies. The role has responsibility for intake, processing, design, and maintaining/monitoring accommodations for qualifying faculty, staff, and student employees in compliance with the ADA, applicable policies/practices, and in consideration of the institution’s operational needs. Also has responsibility for leading procedural compliance efforts within the Office of Human Resources and developing/bolstering standard operating procedures in partnership with departments and stakeholders across campus.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Comprehensively manages the University’s interactive review and evaluation process related to ADA- compliant, reasonable accommodations for qualifying individuals with disabilities. Interfaces with employees, their authorized healthcare providers and departmental management, in service of routine/regular accommodations. Also consults with internal OHR colleagues (e.g. HR Partners and leave/benefits), the Office of General Counsel, University leadership, and other resources as needed regarding complex matters of accommodation – particularly those with broader or novel implications. Analyzes cases for compliance, consistency with University practice, and equity/fairness, ultimately designating authorized employment accommodations on behalf of the University. Evaluates individual accommodation matters as well as the program/processes prospectively for compliance and effectiveness on a regular/ongoing basis.
- Creates, updates, and develops procedural guidance instruments such as standard operating procedures (“SOP”), directives/guidelines, and instructional memoranda internally and in aid of University divisions and departments. Consults with managers, other stakeholders, and external resources as needed and on a regular basis to identify/analyze gaps and needs before recommending and developing solutions. Also serves in a lead role for internal OHR procedural revisions as necessary and liaison to departments in need of procedural development support.
- Administers and maintains currently existing processes/procedures relative to various areas of HR compliance. Examples include but are not limited to: administering the University’s telework agreement approval and renewal process, international hiring compliance (visa and work authorization tracking/updating), annual compliance notifications, and contract-related requirements. Also identifies new areas of need relative to process/procedure improvement and develops solutions accordingly. Tracks and shares trends/metrics related to compliance-related processes and practices.
- Works closely with the division’s Communication Specialist to roll out regular messaging related to OHR procedural updates and other compliance-based content of value to the University’s workforce. Develops a regular schedule of relevant communications/notifications as well as ad hoc messaging on an as-needed basis. Manages and updates web content related to HR compliance and related subject matter.
- Assists in the daily management and operation of the HR Partnerships & Faculty/Staff Relations unit, particularly as it relates to compliance. Consults and collaborates regularly with unit colleagues (HR Partners and Insurance Administrator) to ensure alignment and current information regarding ADA cases and compliance projects. Serves on internal workgroups regularly and externally as assigned.
- Other duties as may be assigned, to include delivering training related to the University’s ADA accommodation program/process.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and three years of applicable experience.
- Strong familiarity with the ADA; experience developing reasonable accommodations and administering related programming in compliance with the ADA.
- Experience and skill working with regulations and policies within a public sector and/or large, matrixed organizational structure.
- Skill in research, assessment, and application of policy to individual facts and sometimes ambiguous circumstances.
- Considerable experience reviewing, revising, and drafting procedural guidance and related instruments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex information related to process gaps, application and improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the University, across all disciplines, as well as externally.
- Experience and ability building coalitions, consensus, and otherwise working collaboratively on policy/procedural goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Federal and State employment laws and HR policies in a higher education environment.
- Experience directly managing ADA Title I compliance and the interactive process in a large/complex organization.
- PHR, SPHR, and/or other relevant certification(s).
Salary and Benefits
