Job Summary:
This position will be in the Section of Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow transplantation (BMT) at the Professor level, working in the clinical service area of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). The duties are in the Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant outpatient setting, which includes our pediatric outpatient infusion center, seeing patients across a range of diagnoses and conditions. This is a flex position with no guaranteed or required number of hours/shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent care of pediatric hematology-oncology and BMT patients in the outpatient setting, including the outpatient infusion service.
- Perform evaluation of patients outside of CCBD scope, as requested by nursing staff, medical residents, and other providers.
- Participate in rapid response team evaluations and respond to urgent medical situations as needed and requested by team members.
- Participate in end-of-day or end-of-shift sign-out with residents and fellows, if present, other attending physicians, and nursing staff members, to ensure quality transitions of care.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Continuous Maintenance of Certification is required.
- Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.
- 15+ years of experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant
Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
- Active credentials at Children's Hospital Colorado
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pediatric academic medicine
- Experience with patients on clinical trials
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with staff and faculty within and outside the Section, Department and/or hospital.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, referring providers, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong advocacy skills.
- Knowledge of best practices in patient safety and quality care.
- Ability to use the electronic health record to write orders and communications, including diagnostic tests, medications, care instructions, and adding to patients' electronic medical records charting.
- Timely completion of medical record documentation and billing in accordance with University and hospital standards.
- Ability to perform selected procedures including but not limited to lumbar punctures with or without intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies.
