The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is accepting applications for Adjunct Head Women's Basketball Coach positions for the 2026 Academic School Year. Position Description
The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment, or Associate's degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
- A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Pursuant to LACCD Board policy, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.
Desirable Qualifications
- Educational background in Education, Physical Education, Exercise Sciences, or Kinesiology.
- Prior coaching experience in a college environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with diverse groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sports program, recruitment expertise, financial management skills, leadership in athletics, familiarity with 3C2A regulations, teamwork abilities, and administrative decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional responsibilities: Undertake standard instructional duties, including classroom teaching, developing and assessing student learning outcomes, managing class rosters, and timely grade submissions.
- Athletic operations: Handle scheduling of games, plan and supervise practices, manage games and travel logistics, and oversee hiring of assistant coaches.
- Recruitment of players: Scout, identify, and recommend student-athletes, ensuring a diverse and competitive team.
- Academic success: Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes.
- Rules compliance: Manage the program in adherence to 3C2A, LACCD Board rules, and Athletics Department policies.
- Community involvement: Engage in public relations, promote the team, collaborate on fundraising, and maintain connections with feeder programs.
- Fiscal management: Conduct fundraising and manage the program's budget.
- Meeting attendance: Attend required department, district, college, conference, and state meetings.
- Professional representation: Represent the college and district professionally.
- Cultural responsiveness: Interact effectively with diverse backgrounds.
- Flexible scheduling: Includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Curriculum development: Participate in curriculum development and other duties as assigned.
Compensation
This position is paid at the contractual hourly rate for 10 standard teaching hours during the season, plus a $18,700 stipend for out-of-class activities. Additional compensation may be available for off-season conditioning classes.
