Adjunct: Doctor of Medical Science Program

DeSales University’s Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) Program, housed in the College of Healthcare Professions, seeks a DMSc Adjunct Faculty member who will direct the education and instruction of students in the Doctor of Medical Science program while providing mentorship and motivation for learning, research, and scholarly activity.

This role supports student development through high-quality online instruction, feedback, and engagement within an asynchronous learning environment. This is a fully remote position, with all teaching and student interactions conducted online.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in course development
  • Participates in the design, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the curriculum
  • Course Instructor for the assigned course
  • Reviews Student Handbook, when applicable
  • Attend scheduled staff and faculty meetings, when applicable
  • Reviews academic performance with students as needed
  • Provides remediation for students as needed
  • Advises the Program Leadership of issues related to online classroom management, such as student behavior, academic performance, or professionalism
  • Upholds the values and mission of DeSales University
  • Assists in other duties as assigned by Program Leadership

Qualified applicants should, at minimum, have greater than 5 years of clinical experience; teaching experience in Higher Education; and a Doctoral degree (DMSc, DHSc, DrPH, PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in a health-related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Greater than 10 years of clinical experience
  • Greater than 5 years in Higher Education
  • Experience in online teaching
  • Demonstrated experience in scholarly writing or publication
  • Experience guiding or mentoring students in scholarly writing or research dissemination

Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related academic software.
  • Ability to effectively utilize a Learning Management System (LMS) for instruction, grading, course facilitation, and student communication.
  • Familiarity with recording mini-lectures and delivering content through video-based instructional tools.
  • Ability to engage and support students in an online asynchronous learning environment.
  • Strong written communication skills for clear, professional, and timely feedback.
  • Ability to display professionalism in all communication and interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy in accordance with institutional and federal guidelines (FERPA).
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage numerous and varied assignments.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered educational environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues or guide students toward appropriate support resources.
