Adjunct Faculty: Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Job Description

The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach.
The EMS program is growing and we need individuals that can commit to teaching an EMT class in a lead instructor role. The Aims CC EMS program is known for our commitment to high standards and innovative learning. The EMS Program has some of the best equipment in Colorado and a new and modern facility that was built as a model for student centered learning.
Job Duties
- Provide effective and high quality instruction for classroom lecture and skill labs using student centered learning techniques.
- Organize EMT labs and oversee assistant instructors.
- Develop and maintain a course shell in an online learning platform.
- Submit grades and course syllabi on time and maintain accurate attendance and grade records.
- Teach at various times, including evenings/weekends, as assigned.
- Assure compliance with outside agency regulations.
- Assist with the maintenance and coordination of EMS equipment used for instruction on or off campus.
Minimum Qualifications
For the following CTE courses: EMS 1016, 1021, 1022, 1023, 1024, 1026, 1070, 1071, 1075, 1078, 1081, 1082, 1125, 1127, 1129, 1132, 1133, 1135, 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, 2031, 2032, 2033, 2034, 2035, 2036, 2037, 2073, 2080, 2081:
Faculty must have an Aims CTE Credential to teach these courses.
Associate degree in a related field plus a paramedic certificate or higher healthcare certification plus 10,000 hours of satisfactory related industry experience.
For the following Bachelor of Applied Science courses: EMS 3010, 3011, 3012, 3030, 3031, 4025, 4030, 4033, 4035, 4089:
Master's degree in a public safety related field (including, but not limited to: criminal justice, fire science, emergency medical services, organizational management and leadership) plus 8,000 hours of experience in public safety or related field.
- Paramedic Certification
- Have completed a course in teaching adults (e.g. Train the Trainer) or have documented experience in teaching adults.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PPT programs and Outlook.
- Shall hold or qualify for a post-secondary vocational credential in Health Science Technology issued by Aims Community College CTE Office. Contact Landon Loyd for the application at landon.loyd@aims.edu.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a community college teaching environment, curriculum writing, and alternative delivery instruction.
- Clinical and Lab instruction experience.
