Job Summary:
The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Health Science. Adjunct faculty for Health Science are needed both at the Dobbs Ferry and Bronx campuses.
This is an opportunity to join the School of Health and Natural Sciences with undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, exercise science, nursing, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology as well as 5 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).
Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for teaching in the undergraduate health promotion concentration in health science; courses for which adjunct instructors are needed include global health, introduction to health promotion, health communication, epidemiology, etc. There may be additional opportunities for online health science courses. We welcome applications from candidates with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Candidates with a record of excellent teaching experience at the undergraduate level are strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching undergraduate students within areas of expertise strongly preferred.
- Commitment to working with a diverse population of undergraduate students.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
- Strong computer skills required. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly with BlackBoard, as well as teleconferencing software, particularly Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate, strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching online preferred.
Education Requirements:
- MPH or MS in public health, health promotion, or related discipline, required.
- Doctoral degree in public health, health promotion, or related discipline preferred, CHES or MCHES certification preferred.
Physical/Other Requirements:
- Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
