Chatham University is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty of Visual Arts to teach ART115S Painting I.
Description:
- This class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3PM to 4:40PM.
- This studio course introduces the student to basic principles of painting and two-dimensional thinking and expression. Drawing skills, color theory, stretcher construction, and a general understanding of visual art concepts accompany each assignment.
- The Visual Arts program at Chatham introduces students to fundamental skills, processes, theory, and culture, from art history and foundation classes to contemporary visual theory and advanced studio practices, such as ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, and printmaking.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching ART115S Painting I.
- Holding regular office hours and maintaining professional communication with students.
- Consulting and collaborating with other faculty to align with departmental teaching needs.
- Participating in departmental events and university trainings for adjunct faculty.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an MFA or Ph.D. in Studio Arts or closely related field OR extensive work experience in the field required.
- Candidates with a combination of academic and practical experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
- ABD-Ph.D. candidates are encouraged to apply.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience teaching and mentoring at a college level preferred.
- Experience working with/teaching diverse groups/diverse students is desirable.
