Position Title: Adjunct Instructor 1 - Electronics and Automation Engineering Technology

Advertised Salary: Minimum of $1,276 per credit hour, if advanced degree held in primary academic discipline the minimum rate increases to $1,375 per credit hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement.

Term of Position: As Needed

Summary of Position: Temporary faculty teaching AAS and/or BS level coursework involving Industrial, Electronics and Automation Technology. Typical subject matter includes DC / AC circuit analysis, Industrial Electronics, Motors and Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, Digital Systems, Electronic Devices and Sensors. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.

Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing

Required Education: A master’s or higher-level degree in field or closely related field and 3 years of relevant industrial experience. (all courses up through 400 level). A master’s or higher-level degree out of field with at least one bachelor’s or associate’s degree in field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses taught. (all courses up through 400 level). A bachelor’s degree in field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses taught; or an associate’s degree in field and any baccalaureate degree and 5 years of relevant industry experience. (all courses up through 200 level).

Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of relevant industry experience dependent upon degree obtained. See Required Education.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Instruct students in the BS Electronics and Automation Engineering Technology, AAS Industrial Automation Engineering Technology and related programs. Primary responsibility is teaching. Typical subject matter includes DC / AC circuit analysis, Industrial Electronics, Motors and Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, Digital Systems, Electronic Devices and Sensors. This may include off campus or on-line content. Teaching includes keeping of scheduled office hours convenient for students. Development of lectures and commensurate laboratory work to compliment lecture materials. Subject matter is delivered in accordance with teaching objectives that are outlined in the course syllabus. Timely grading of submitted materials and feedback of student work. Ancillary responsibilities include orientation, registration, assessment, programmatic and college meetings. Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include but are not limited to keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students) and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
