Adjunct Instructor - American History and American Government
Job Description
Northern Oklahoma College Division of Language Arts / Social Sciences is seeking an adjunct instructor to begin the Spring semester of 2026. This is a teaching positions on the Enid and Stillwater Campuses. Teaching areas could include American History courses and American Government Courses. The position requires teaching in a variety of teaching modes, which may include Zoom and Online, as well as traditional classroom settings. A successful applicant will have a masters degree with a minimum of 18 hours in History and Political Science and strong communication skills. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Successful applicants will complete training during the first semester of employment and complete IT, Advising, and Blackboard training prior to the beginning of the first semester.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Teach undergraduate courses, such as American History to 1877, American History Since 1877, and American Government.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans.
- Effectively communicate to students.
- Guide and support student learning through assignments and assessments.
- Maintain a positive and professional environment.
Areas of Knowledge and Expertise Include:
- Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant field. (History and Political Science)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills.
- Previous teaching experience (preferred).
- Subject to satisfactory Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure which includes a criminal background check.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, haul, pull, reach, carry, grasp, squat or stoop, bend and twist the body while performing essential duties, use hands to operate controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear.
