"Adjunct Instructor for Urban Design Media Course"

The School of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor position in the Master of Urban Design degree program for Spring 2026. The course, 48733-Urban Design Media, meets each Tuesday and Friday from 11:00-12.20 from 12 January 2026 until grades are due 12 May 2026.

We are looking for an Adjunct Instructor to teach a graduate level course in urban media. The course will focus on developing students' skills in mapping local experience and large scale urban systems and use data science to reveal real world problems. Students will be introduced to advanced ArcGIS skills like raster image analysis and tools to identify urban built environment issues, including urban heat island, flooding risks.

The School invites applicants with the following qualifications:

• A terminal degree in architecture or urban design (Bachelor/Master of Architecture, Master of Urban Design)
• An advanced degree related to data science and environmental analysis.
• University-level teaching experience—either full-time, adjunct, or visiting scholar—at the graduate levels
