Adjunct Instructor - Patient Care Technician Certificate
Summary of Duties
Develop and teach courses in the Patient Care Tech Certificate.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Instruct online and traditional in-person lecture and lab courses. Traditional, in-person class times vary and may include daytime and evening courses.
- Provide instruction and conduct classes in accordance with the mission and values of the College and within the scope of a defined course of study.
- Assist and advise students during office hours or appointments.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with College, department and divisional policies and processes.
- Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner (not to exceed one week) to promote student learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance in class.
- Submit final grades and all other required documents and reports according to established deadlines.
- Use the College learning management system (CANVAS) to create course content.
- Partner with MAT Coordinator to evaluate and track student progress in clinical coursework.
- Provides student mentoring, ongoing course development, and student and course assessment.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Knowledge of patient care technician procedures, protocols, and practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Prior experience with traditional and online teaching.
Education & Certifications
Required:
- Associate degree from an accredited college in a health-related field
- Registered Nurse (RN), or Certified Patient Care Technician (PCT), or Certified Medical Assistant
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related career field.
