Job Description
Westchester Community College seeks a knowledgeable, dynamic, and student-centered Adjunct Instructor to teach non-credit CompTIA Tech+ workforce training courses within the Division of Workforce Development. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging instruction designed to prepare students for the CompTIA Tech+ certification exam while building foundational competencies in computer hardware, software applications, networking, cybersecurity, troubleshooting, and IT support.
This position supports the College's workforce development mission by equipping students with industry-relevant technology skills that lead to career advancement and entry into high-demand IT occupations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with effective instructional practices and a demonstrated ability to foster active learning in a supportive classroom environment. The successful candidate must possess the ability to engage and support a diverse population of adult and workforce learners with varying educational backgrounds, skill levels, and lived experiences. A strong commitment to teaching excellence, workforce readiness, student success, and the mission of a community college is essential.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and at least one (1) year of relevant practical experience are required. Candidates must possess demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with CompTIA Tech+ and/or A+ platforms, including the ability to effectively support foundational IT instruction. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to engage students through active, student-centered learning strategies and effectively integrate instructional technology into the classroom environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student population representing a broad range of educational backgrounds, skill levels, and lived experiences. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous high school, college-level, and/or workforce training instructional experience is strongly preferred. Candidates who possess a CompTIA Tech+ and/or A+ certification are highly desirable. Experience using CompTIA course management tools and instructional platforms is strongly preferred. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, student success, and the mission and goals of a community college, with the ability to effectively support learners from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds.
Additional Information
WORK SCHEDULE: Saturdays 9:30 am -1:30 pm at the Valhalla campus.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2026
HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $63.20 per hour. No benefits.
