Job Summary:
The Petrocelli Center for Continuing Education seeks highly skilled and experienced instructors to teach courses in its newly launched Paralegal Studies certificate program for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate subject-matter expertise in paralegal studies, a strong commitment to student-centered learning, and the ability to effectively teach in a HyFlex modality – offering students the choice to participate in a course in three ways for each session: face-to-face in the classroom, synchronously online (live-streamed), or asynchronously online (pre-recorded/self-paced). Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate-level courses in the Paralegal Studies certificate program using the University’s HyFlex instructional model. Develop course curriculum based on provided learning objectives and program outcomes. Facilitate instruction across multiple modalities, including: Face-to-face classroom instruction Synchronous online instruction (live-streamed) Asynchronous online instruction (pre-recorded and self-paced) Familiarity with Blackboard Ultra or other learning management systems. Employ alternative instructional techniques and innovative teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles. Create and manage course materials within the University’s learning management system. Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain regular communication with students and program leadership. Ensure compliance with University policies, academic standards, and accreditation requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Instructors in the Paralegal Studies certificate program are expected to facilitate engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences across all instructional modalities. Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to instructional excellence are essential for success in this role. Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in paralegal studies or a closely related legal field. Prior teaching experience (higher education preferred), professional training, or a related instructional setting. Willingness and ability to develop course curriculum aligned with established learning objectives. Knowledge of alternative instructional techniques and proficiency with legal technology and learning management systems. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Juris Doctorate (JD) with an active license and significant practical legal experience (5-7+ years) are highly desirable. Preferred specializations include civil litigation, Torts, contract law, business law, and expert knowledge in legal technology and AI.
