Job Description
The College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is the first of its kind in the nation; uniting people, technology and knowledge to address the challenges of the 21st century. ETEC is the $180M research, instructional and entrepreneurial complex in which CEHC resides, providing our faculty state of the art laboratory and teaching spaces.
CEHC seeks adjunct lecturers for the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. Successful candidates will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following subject areas: information sciences and technology foundations; software development and interactive technologies; user experience and interface design; data analytics and social science research methods; information systems and information management; social media and digital communication; information technology and society; and library, archival, and information services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Information Sciences and Technology Department in one or more subject areas, which may include but are not limited to: information sciences and technology foundations; software development and interactive technologies; user experience and interface design; data analytics, informatics, and social science research methods; information systems, information management, and information technology; social media, digital communication, and the social impacts of technology; society, policy, and ethical dimensions of information and technology; library, archival, and information services
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of information sciences and technology concepts in one or more areas such as software development, user experience and interface design, data analytics, social science research methods, information systems, information management, or the societal impacts of technology.
- Ability to design and deliver effective undergraduate and/or graduate instruction in information sciences and technology across in-person, online, and hybrid modalities.
- Ability to incorporate current professional practices, tools, or applied experience from information science, information technology, or related domains into academic coursework.
- Ability to communicate effectively and foster an inclusive learning environment that supports student success within a diverse academic community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
Minimum Qualifications
- A MA or MS in Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Three or more years of academic teaching or professional training experience.
- Demonstrated readiness to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid).
Preferred Qualifications
- A PhD in Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Experience teaching graduate courses in Information Sciences and Technology such as information systems, software development, user experience and interface design, data analytics, social science research methods, information management, or the societal impacts of technology.
- Demonstrated experience or teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, online, and/or hybrid).
- One or more years working in the Information domain in various industries, e.g., finance, health, game design, manufacturing, libraries, service, etc.
