Adjunct position (Business & Society Program, part-time, non tenure-track)
The Stern School of Business at New York University ("NYU Stern") is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for courses related to business ethics, professionalism, and the role of business in society. The courses are "Professional Responsibility and Leadership," a required course for undergraduate students, and "Professional Responsibility," a required MBA course. Adjunct Faculty at Stern are part-time instructors, hired on a term-by-term basis.
Each are half-courses that require around 18 hours in the classroom. Class meeting patterns are somewhat flexible depending on need and scheduling constraints and will run during the fall (September to mid-December 2026) and spring (late January to early May 2027) semesters. In addition to the time required for course instruction, the adjunct instructor will also be responsible for course preparation based on a set syllabus, student feedback and assessment throughout the semester, and participation in minimal faculty meetings about the course. There is the potential to continue into other academic terms as well.
Teaching and Learning Expectations
Instructors are expected to participate in the drafting, grading and administration of a variety of assignments and in-class exercises throughout the course
The instructor is also responsible for:
- Reviewing course material and generally adhering to a common syllabus
- Creating a classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and learning
- Providing extra support to students through office hours, when requested
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field and integrating new knowledge into lessons
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is in the range of $350-$400. This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree
- Demonstrated interest in teaching; successful teaching experience a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
