Adjunct Professor of Law (Temporary Employee Pool)

Job Description

McGeorge School of Law invites applications for several adjunct professor positions to teach online law courses in Tax Law, Intellectual Property Law, Business Organizations, and Election Law. These three-unit courses will be offered to graduate law students, including LLM and MSL students.

All our courses are fully online, asynchronous courses designed for graduate students. The courses are intended to have a strong focus on projects, practical exercises, and case studies. Faculty-student interaction, accessibility, and achievement of credit hour standards are the highest priorities.

The adjunct professors will be required to follow a strict timeline for course development (if applicable) with mandatory deadlines and coordinate with McGeorge Online Graduate Programs and partners on an ongoing basis. The professor will be assisted by an Instructional Designer who will handle technical issues and manage the course development process. The professor will have authority over course content and is responsible for ensuring that content is consistent with University of the Pacific and McGeorge School of Law policies, in coordination with McGeorge's Faculty Director for Online Learning. Training in online course development and online teaching, recording technology, and other support will be provided. Course development and teaching may be offered in separate contracts, and being hired for one purpose is not a guarantee of being hired for the other.

University of the Pacific recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion is foundational to the success of our valued students and employees. • Applicant must have minimal facility with computer navigation and possess the ability to quickly learn new software, including but not limited to Canvas and Zoom.
  • Applicant must possess the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate with a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience such as teaching or legal practice is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with online course development and online teaching is preferred but not required.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
