Job Description:
This position will support the Civic and Community Engagement (CCE) Office and Minor, the Department of Sociology, and the Law, Society and Policy (LSP) Integrated Learning Major (ILM). This role provides student and faculty leadership with administrative support assisting with undergraduate academic programs, student internships, office communications, financial transactions and logistics for various events. The successful candidate will be flexible, adapting to a dynamic work environment.
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree or a combination of education.
- 2 to 3 years administrative experience.
- Previous experience in higher education preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to respond in a prompt, knowledgeable, and respectful manner.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite and website management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage processes related to curriculum and scheduling of courses in consultation with the CCE director for the CCE minor.
- Administration of online course evaluations in consultation with OIRA; work with faculty to submit via course catalog regularization, deactivation and program changes.
- Assists with the collection of materials for the departments assessment and program review.
- Work closely with the CCE Director to manage minor students, update student listservs, handle all paperwork such as petitions and add/drop.
- Handle and respond to inquiries from CCE faculty and students. Office Management of CCE including budget and credit card reconciliations, and ordering supplies.
- Work closely with the Undergraduate Director of Sociology and the Director of the Law, Society and Policy ILM to manage major/minor student issues, update student listservs, handle all UG paperwork such as petitions and add/drop, assist with thesis presentation, honor society events and Law, Society and Policy ILM.
- Handle and respond to inquiries from Sociology faculty and students.
- Manage all bookstore needs for students and faculty including completing book orders each semester, desk copies and library reserves.
- Coordinate CCE and Sociology events including programmatic functions, academic and career services events, and student social events.
- Provide logistical support including travel arrangements, catering, space reservations, technology set up and support, etc.
- Provide logistical support to Law, Society and Policy ILM for events.
- Coordinate the Sociology Honor Society end of year event.
- Manage and maintain the webpages and events calendars for Sociology and CCE including other communications such as unit newsletters, social media accounts, bulletin boards, event announcements, and related undergraduate and graduate events throughout campus.
- Maintain Answers page.
