We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the Faculty of Science administrative team on a fixed term basis. You will provide comprehensive, high quality and confidential administrative support to the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Science including committee and meeting support, diary management and other general administrative duties where required.

The post is primarily based on the University Park Campus. It will also be possible for the role holder to spend some time working from home if desired.

As an Administrator to the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Science you will:

  • Provide administrative support to the Pro Vice Chancellor for Science, undertaking diary planning, monitoring and prioritisation, including management of the generic email inbox.
  • Use your own judgement to draft responses for the PVC and prepare correspondence to a high standard, some of which is of a confidential nature.
  • Act as a filter for key enquiries for University staff, students and dealing with such enquiries by channelling within the University, as required, and ensuring that actions are taken appropriately and promptly.
  • General support for the central faculty administrative hub.

And you will bring:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work independently to resolve complex internal and external queries and to provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.
  • The ability to build working relationships within area of work and with external stakeholders/suppliers.
  • Experience of planning own work activities in response to differing needs and deadlines and accuracy, reliability, willingness and adaptability to learn new skills and procedures are essential.
  • Experience of minute/note taking would be beneficial but not essential.
