About the role
The Grantham Institute has an exciting opportunity for a Research and Project Support Administrator to be an integral part of the Operations Team. You will be working with the Grantham Research Manager to support the pre- and post-award aspect of the Institute’s research portfolio. Additionally, you will provide specific support for the World Weather Attribution (WWA) project, a high-profile initiative led by Prof Fredi Otto.
What you would be doing
Departmental Research Administration
You will:
- Play a key role in the day-to-day management of the research portfolio for the Grantham Institute, and related activities and duties. This will include budget monitoring, financial reporting and monitoring of research progress
- Provide costing and management support for Institute research proposals
- Oversee the administration and monitoring related to progress of research projects, resolving financial problems, providing information and advice to investigators on the management of their grants
WWA Project Support
You will:
- Manage day to day activities of the WWA initiative, including setting up meetings and taking notes, highlighting decisions and ensuring timelines are set, communicated and adhered to
- Track progress against task lists and project timeline, identifying challenges and managing key dependencies and resource requirements
- Closely collaborate with comms officers to develop timelines and oversee deliverables of products in accordance with these timelines
What we are looking for
- Previous grant administrative experience, preferably in a research or higher education environment
- Experience of financial administration, including the ability to create, monitor and review budgets, and to report financial information in a meaningful way to different groups of people
- Experience of organising seminars, interviews, conferences and workshops
- Experience of project planning and co-ordination
- Ability to organize own workload and to adjust to changing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly maintaining accuracy when working under pressure
