Summary

This campus-based position will be hired to do prospective student recruitment and admissions counseling for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). This position utilizes data to plan and implement recruiting and outreach to prospective freshmen and transfer students. This is done in-person and virtually through high school visitations, college fairs, and other opportunities and activities. This position will counsel and guide students with the goal of applying and attending the University.

Essential Functions

  • This position utilizes data to plan and implement recruiting and outreach to prospective freshmen and transfer students. This is done in-person and virtually through high school visitations, college fairs, and other opportunities and activities. This position will counsel and guide students with the goal of applying and attending the University.
  • This position will be responsible for a specific Colorado territory, representing both in-person and virtually at a variety of recruitment and counseling activities.
  • Examples, but not limited to: high school visits, college fairs, community college appointments, individual appointments, information sessions, and family engagement.
  • Travel out-of-state as needed to select areas to recruit students.
  • Support on-campus recruitment efforts by taking appointments, greeting visitors, assisting with general inquiries via phone and e-mail, and supporting and processing admissions documents.
  • Responsible for tracking applicant/admit/incomplete reports related to the territory, charged with idea generation to guide strategies and actions to increase yield.
  • Plan and execute events in territory to convert admits to enrollment (example: admitted student dinner)
  • Associate Director, or other campus personnel, may travel with employee for training and evaluative purposes.
  • Publicly speak, in-person and virtually, to individuals and groups of varying sizes (potentially 100 or more), regarding the University's programs and campus community.
  • Prepare professional presentations (speaking and slide decks) for a variety of purposes.
  • Communicate transfer advising information to prospective students and families.
  • Guides prospective students and families through admissions counseling conversations for the best interests of the student's success.
  • Develop relationships with key contacts (high school counselors, community college advisors, etc) within the assigned territory.
  • Communicate through a variety of methods such as phone, email, in-person, text, and social media.
  • Secondary responsibilities and other duties as assigned (examples: visit programs, assisting with development of campus tour guides, development of student assistants, assisting with technical aspects of admissions processing, and more).
  • Some night and evening work is required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license issued by a state within the United States.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education setting working with students professionally or as a student assistant is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Colorado Community College System is preferred.
