Full Time Salary range:$130,630 - $200,734 / year

  • This position will rotate between Adult Inpatient Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BMT/CT) and the Outpatient Migration Program
  • Provide care and direct management of adult patients with malignant myeloid and lymphoid hematological disorders with a focus on BMT/CT under a collaborative agreement with BMT physicians and participation with the multidisciplinary team
  • Manage complex patients including: performing history/ physical examination and patient evaluation 1-2x/day, orders per Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) in supportive care treatment regimens, admission of patients, discharges, consults, patient and family education, collaboration and referrals with other health care providers, and provision of education to nursing staff, students, and the community.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately treat: sepsis, chemotherapy toxicities; graft versus host disease (GVHD), cytokine release syndrome (CRS), immune effector cell-associated enterocolitis (IEC-EC), immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), cardiac myopathies with arrhythmias, and profound cytopenias requiring daily transfusions.
  • Perform procedures such as bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, bone marrow harvest as 2nd assist, lumbar puncture, and skin biopsies for diagnostic and therapeutic indications.
  • Review laboratory and radiographic tests results and interface with faculty and patients regarding results and plan of care.
  • Participate in clinical trial research through clinically assessing patients and consenting of patients for clinical trial participation as well as participating in clinical trials.
  • Facilitate transition of care and function as a liaison between the inpatient and outpatient settings and between staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in workshops and CME activities pertinent to BMT. Attendance at programmatic meetings at Michigan Medicine and occasionally attend regional or national meetings.

NP:

  • Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current specialty certification to practice as a FNP, AGPCNP, or ANP – with 4 years’ experience as an inpatient BMT APP in the similar clinical environment with the same acuity and patient population within the past 6 years.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
  • Current DEA registration required
  • AHA Approved BLS
  • AHA Approved ACLS
  • 1-2 years expertise in the management of acutely ill patients including Telemetry, EKG interpretation and Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the Advanced Practice level.
  • BMT APP experience required, will consider those with Heme-Onc or Hospitalist experience only.

PA:

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
  • Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA or one of its predecessor agencies.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
  • Current DEA registration required
  • AHA Approved BLS
  • AHA Approved ACLS
  • 1-2 years expertise in the management of acutely ill patients including Telemetry, EKG interpretation and Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) at the Advanced Practice level.
  • BMT APP experience required, will consider those with Heme-Onc or Hospitalist experience only.

Shift: Day Shift with weekend coverage
Hours: 28 hrs a week
Location: Children’s and Women’s Hospital (C&W), C&W Infusion, University Hospital (UH) with additional sites determined with Cellular and Gene Therapy Program expansion.
