Advanced Practice Provider (APP)(PA/NP)/NeuroICU Instructor – Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice (Open Rank)

Job Summary

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU-SOM) has a full-time clinical faculty position available for an Advanced Practice Provider. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be a clinical faculty member of the CU-SOM, entering at either the level of Instructor of Clinical Practice or Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice. This position encompasses inpatient medical care services for patients suffering from a wide range of neurosurgical disorders. The Neuro ICU is building an APP team with a goal of 24/7 coverage of ICU level patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Admitting patients to the hospital
• Performing history and physical exam, patient assessment, ordering appropriate labs, diagnostic studies, radiology tests
• Performing necessary emergent and non-emergent procedures in the ICU
• Performing efficiently in urgent/emergent situations
• Assisting with transfer orders, discharge to outside facilities
• Establishing and maintaining communication with other health care providers
• Function as a clinical leader and educator
• Participating in research activities as requested
• Attending weekly specialty conferences
• Participating in quality and safety improvement projects
