Job Summary

The Clinical Affairs Team is seeking self-motivated, change-oriented, Advanced Practice Providers who demonstrate outstanding communication, team building, and clinical skills and who seek to work in a new-model practice that is focused on continuity and whole-person care. A significant responsibility of the clinic and its employees and providers will be to employ rapid-cycle innovation in the implementation, assessment, and evaluation of new ideas that if successful, will be scaled out to the organization as a whole.

Candidates for this position should highlight their strengths and experience among the key domains of the position which include; teamwork, experience with Quality and Process Improvement, experience with and use of healthcare-related technology including wearables and point-of-care devices, information technology and virtual care/artificial intelligence/emerging technology, and the desire to provide comprehensive medical and procedural care within an ambulatory setting. Ideal candidates would demonstrate experience and interest in several of these areas and would be able to leverage unique skills and personal experience to complement other staff and providers. Ideal candidates are expected to demonstrate transparent communication skills including listening and messaging, decision-making skills that emphasize team-based input, the ability to weigh risks and benefits, and a willingness to think "outside the box". Above all, candidates should see themselves as "early adopters" who willingly "raise their hands first" when confronted with new opportunities. Candidates should demonstrate both a commitment to sustaining a functioning medical practice and providing up-to-date and comprehensive medical care, and also an understanding of how a practice can recognize and act on unique and evolving opportunities.

Examples of Work Performed

This position is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position.

Full Time Clinical Position = 1 cFTE: 8 "4 hour sessions" or 32 clinical contact hours/week and two half day sessions (8 hours)/week dedicated to completion of medical records, laboratory result management, and communication with patients. Clinical time includes responsibilities in patient care, clinic functioning and student precepting.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Sr. Instructor:

Clinical Care

  • Provide full scope direct patient care in an ambulatory clinical setting.
  • Participate as needed in chart review and clinical coding compliance activities.
  • Collaborate as appropriate with medical staff in the care of complex patients.
  • Interact with other health professionals to create guidelines and coordinate patient care.
  • Collaborate with other team members in chronic disease management and patient care management.
  • Participate in phone call system for after-hours issues.
  • Support and collaborate with medical, nursing and office staff.

Teaching

  • Provide teaching experiences for students (pre-med, medical, nursing, pharmacy, physician assistant, nurse practitioner) as requested. Participate in the education and training of residents as requested and appropriate for clinical site.

Administrative/Professional Development

  • Maintain eligibility for School of Medicine Faculty.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in field, both academically and through applied skill.
  • Attend and present at conferences, meetings and trainings in order to maintain certification and enhance professional skills; participates in faculty development activities.
  • Accept other responsibilities assigned by the Medical Director.

Quality

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the strategy for quality improvement.

Work Location

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Senior Instructor Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters/Doctor of Nursing practice degree or graduation from an NCCPA-approved physician assistant program.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado.
  • Completion of required 1,000 hours (provisional prescription authority/mentorship) or other minimum as defined by State of Colorado in order to obtain full prescriptive authority and DEA registration.
  • Medicare/Medicaid credentials.
  • Unrestricted DEA license and current CPR license.
  • National certification by ANCC or AANP as family or adult nurse practitioner (if FNP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years (full time) of practice experience working in a Patient Centered Medical Home/Ambulatory Family Medicine and/or Adult Medicine practice preferred.
  • Experience working with Epic or another EHR.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the office's policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates cultural humility and commitment to minimizing implicit bias in clinical care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Ability to consult with supervisory physicians on patient care and administrative issues.
  • Ability to document history, physical examinations, assessments and treatment plans for each patient by using the electronic medical record and enter follow-up diagnostic testing and laboratory studies that have been ordered.
  • Ability to discuss and promote wellness for all patients.
  • Knows when and how to refer patients to other health care professionals when the care that needs to be provided is beyond their scope of practice.
  • Proven effectiveness in working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to emergencies in a calm manner.
  • Ability to verbalize information/directions clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to administer patient medications properly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve patient and office problems.
  • Ability to participate effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks and complete administrative duties correctly and on time.

Anticipated Pay Range

Senior Instructor Hiring Range: $95,000 - $147,522
