Advanced solutions for Radar/RF sensors in Autonomous Systems

About the Project

In the recent years uncrewed systems have become widely used in battlespace scenarios, with a wide range of capabilities and levels of autonomy. In this fast paced scenario there are a number of technical challenges still to be addressed such as navigation in GPS denial areas, anti-spoofing, countermeasure deployment and radar imaging. These advanced capabilities are currently limited by the limitations of the systems, where weight, power and dimension of sensing are constrained.

In this project future uncrewed systems will be targeted, and their sensing and autonomous capabilities will be investigated and enhanced. The solutions that will be investigated include system level approaches as well as algorithmic solutions and aimed at testbed demonstration of the capabilities by the end of the PhD. The project will benefit from the interaction with an industrial partner leading in the Defence sector.

Funding Notes

Project is funded under the Research Excellence Award (REA) of the University of Strathclyde and by Industry.
